قَدْ كَفَانِي عِلْمُ رَبِّي مِنْ سُؤَالِي وَاخْتِيَارِي qod kafani i’lmu robbi min su-aali wakhtiyaari My Lord’s knowledge has sufficed me from requesting and choosing فَدُعَائِي وَابْتِهَالِي شَاهِدٌلِي بِافْتِقَارِي fadu’aii wabtihaali syahidullil biftiqoori My prayer and my supplication are a witness to my impoverishment فَلِهَذَا السِّرِّ أَدْعُو فِي يَسَارِي وَعِسَارِي falihaadzaassirri ad’uu fi yasaari wa ‘asaari By this secret I supplicate, in times of ease and hardship أَنَا عَبْدٌ صَارَ فَخْرِي ضِمْنَ فَقْرِي وَاضْطِرَارِي ana ‘abduu shoro fakhri dhimna faqri wadhthiroori I am a slave who has become proud in his poverty and desperation (in Allah) يَا إِلَهِي وَمَلِيكِي أَنْتَ تَعْلَمْ كَيْفَ حَالِي yaa ilaahi wa maliiki anta ta’lam kaifa haali O My Lord, my King, You know my state وَبِمَا قَدْ حَلَّ قَلْبِي مِنْ هُمُومٍ وَاشْتِغَالِي wa bima qod halla qolbi finnuru lil wasti ghoni And what has settled in my heart from worries and preoccupations فَتَدَارَكْنِي بِلُطْفٍ مِنْكَ يَامَوْلَى الْمَوَالِي Fataadaraknee bilutfin, minka yaa Mawlal mawaalee So restore me with gentle grace from You, O Master of masters! يَاكَرِيمَ الْوَجْهِ غِثْنِي قَبْلَ أَنْ يَفْنَى اصْطِبَارِي Yaa kareemal wajhi ghithnee, qabla -an yafnas tibaaree O Most Generous One, save me before I exhaust my patience (with myself)! يَاسَرِيعَ الْغَوْثِ غَوْثًا مِنْكَ يُدْرِكْنَا سَرِيعًا Yaa saree’al ghauthi ghauthan, minka yudriknaa saree’an O Swift in granting aid! Grant me aid from you, which will reach me swiftly يَهْزِمُ الْعُسْرَ وَيَأْتِي بِالَّذِي أَرْجُو جَمِيعًا Yahzimul ‘usra wa ya-tee, billadhee -arjoo jamee’an Vanquishing all difficulty, and bringing [The fulfilment of] all that I hope for يَاقَرِيبًا يَامُجِيبًا يَاعَلِيمًا يَاسَمِيعًا Yaa qareeban yaa mujeeban, yaa ‘aleeman yaa samee’an O Most Near! O Responder (to supplications)! All-Knowing! All-Hearing One! قَدْ تَحَقَّقْتُ بِعَجْزِي وَخُضُوعِي وَانْكِسَارِي Qad taHaqqaqtu bi’ajzee, wa khudu’ee wankisaaree I have realised my incapacity, lowliness and utter brokenness
